Jesus Is Born

Story 24

Jesus Is Born

Luke 2:1–7

The ruler Caesar Augustus ordered that everyone should be registered, so each person went to their own family's town. Joseph belonged to the family of King David, so he travelled from Nazareth to Bethlehem with Mary, who was expecting a baby.

While they were in Bethlehem, the time came for the baby to be born, and Mary gave birth to her first son. There was no room for them to stay, so Mary wrapped the baby snugly in cloths and laid him in a manger, the box where animals' food is put. It was a simple, humble place, yet this baby was Jesus, God's own Son, who came to be with us. God kept His promise in a quiet and gentle way.

Children learn: God gave us His greatest gift, Jesus, in a simple and humble way.
