The Shepherds Come to See Jesus

Luke 2:8–20

On the night Jesus was born, some shepherds were out in the fields near Bethlehem, looking after their sheep. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and God's glory shone all around them. The shepherds were frightened, but the angel said, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy for all people. Today a Saviour has been born for you." Then many angels praised God together.

The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph and the baby lying in a manger, just as the angel had said. They told people what they had heard, and everyone was amazed. Mary treasured these things in her heart, and the shepherds went back praising God.

Children learn: The good news about Jesus is for everyone, and we can share it with joy.
