Jesus Is Alive Again

Luke 24:1–12; John 20:1–18, 19–20

Very early on the first day of the week, some women went to the tomb carrying sweet-smelling spices. They were amazed to find the stone rolled away and the tomb open! Two men in shining clothes said, "Why are you looking for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!" The women hurried to tell the apostles, and Peter ran to see for himself.

Mary Magdalene stayed near the tomb, crying. Someone called her name: "Mary!" At once she knew it was Jesus and cried out joyfully, "Teacher!" That evening the disciples were together indoors. Suddenly Jesus stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." He showed them it really was him, and they were filled with joy. Jesus is alive!

Children learn: Children learn that Jesus is alive and that God's love is stronger than sadness.
