Story 32
Jesus Welcomes the Children
Mark 10:13–16
One day, people brought their little children to Jesus so that he could bless them. But Jesus' disciples told them off and tried to send them away. Perhaps they thought Jesus was far too busy for children.
When Jesus saw this, he was not pleased. He said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to people like these." He taught that everyone should receive God's kingdom the way a little child does, with an open heart. Then Jesus took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. The children were not a bother to Jesus. They were precious, welcomed with love and respect.
Children learn: Children learn that they matter to Jesus and that he welcomes them with love and respect.
