Jesus Calls His Disciples

One day Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee. He saw two brothers, Simon Peter and Andrew, casting their nets into the water. They were grown-up fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of people." At once they left their nets and went with him.

A little further on, Jesus saw two more brothers, James and John, in a boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. Jesus called them too, and they left the boat and followed him. These grown men became Jesus' first disciples. They would walk with him, learn from him and help tell others about God's love.
