Jesus Calms the Storm
Mark 4:35–41; Luke 8:22–25
One evening, after a long day of teaching, Jesus said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." They set off in a boat, and Jesus lay down at the back with his head on a cushion and fell asleep. Then a strong wind began to blow, and big waves splashed into the boat.
The disciples were scared. They woke Jesus and said, "Teacher, don't you care that we are in danger?" Jesus got up and spoke to the wind and the waves: "Quiet! Be still!" At once the wind stopped, and all was calm. Jesus asked his friends why they were afraid and where their faith was. Amazed, they asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"
Children learn: When we feel afraid, we can pray to Jesus and ask grown-ups we trust for help.
