Joseph and His Special Coat
Genesis 37
Jacob had twelve sons, but he loved Joseph more than all the others, and he gave him a special, beautiful coat. When his brothers saw this, they became jealous and could not say a kind word to him. Joseph also had dreams in which his brothers' bundles of grain, and even the sun, moon and stars, bowed down to him. When he told them, they disliked him even more.
One day Jacob sent Joseph to check on his brothers, who were far away looking after the flocks. When they saw him coming, they took his coat and put him in an empty well. Then they sold him to traders travelling to Egypt. Jacob believed he would never see Joseph again, and was very sad. But Joseph's story was not over.
Children learn: Jealousy can lead to hurtful choices, so we can ask God to help us be kind instead.
