The Last Supper
Luke 22:7–20
It was time for the Passover festival. Jesus sent Peter and John to prepare the Passover meal. They found a large upstairs room, just as Jesus had told them, and got everything ready. That evening Jesus sat at the table with his apostles. He told them how much he had longed to share this meal with them.
Jesus took bread, gave thanks to God, broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you. Do this to remember me." After supper he took the cup and said it was God's new promise, the new covenant. Jesus knew that soon he would give his life for his friends. The bread and the cup would help them remember his love for ever.
Children learn: Children learn that Jesus loved his friends deeply and gave them a special way to remember his love together.
