Joshua and Jericho
Joshua 6:1–20
The city of Jericho was shut up tight, with strong walls all around, and no one could go in or out. God gave Joshua an unusual plan. For six days the people were to walk around the city once each day, with priests carrying the ark of the covenant and blowing trumpets made from rams' horns. Joshua told the people to stay silent and not shout until he gave the word.
The people listened and did just as God said. On the seventh day they walked around the city seven times. The priests blew a long blast on the trumpets, Joshua said, 'Shout!', and everyone shouted. Then the walls of Jericho fell down flat.
Children learn: Listening to God and being patient, even when a plan seems strange, is a way of showing that we trust him.
