Story 19
Solomon Asks for Wisdom
1 Kings 3:3–28
Solomon was a young king who loved God. One night God spoke to him in a dream and said, 'Ask for whatever you want me to give you.' Solomon did not ask for riches or a long life. He said he felt like a little child, and asked for a wise, listening heart so he could lead God's people well and know right from wrong. God was pleased and gave him wisdom.
Later, two women came to the king, each saying the same baby was hers. Solomon used a wise test to find out the truth. The real mother loved the baby so much that she was willing to let the other woman have him, just to keep him safe. So Solomon gave the baby to her.
Children learn: True wisdom means listening carefully, looking for the truth and caring about what is right.
