God Calls Moses
Exodus 3:1–15; 4:1–17
Moses was looking after sheep near Mount Horeb when he saw something amazing: a bush on fire that did not burn up. As he came closer, God called his name from the bush. God told Moses to take off his sandals, because he was standing on holy ground. God said he had seen his people suffering as slaves in Egypt, had heard their cries, and would lead them to a good land.
God wanted to send Moses to Pharaoh. Moses felt afraid and asked, 'Who am I?' God promised, 'I will be with you.' He gave Moses signs to show the people, and when Moses worried that he was not good with words, God gave him his brother Aaron to help.
Children learn: When God asks us to do something hard, he does not leave us alone; he promises to be with us.
